Problem Solving / Behavior Modification

In these consultations, it is often about breaking one or more inappropriate patterns created in the past.

There may have been something that has got the horse to go in defense position and develop a nervous or aggressive behavior. There may also be some situations where it succeeded the horse to take control and where the leadership has to be worked back into place, obviously to avoid that the horse will continue to try to rise in the hierarchy and take control in other situations. Or there could be situations where there has been a sudden shift in the horse's behavior, which makes the owner unsure.

Other times it is about simple misunderstandings, - situations where the horse and owner go wrong at each other's signals.

With this type of problem is often just one or two sessions that are needed to solve the problem / break the pattern and get the cooperation to function optimally again. There may also be cases where the problem runs deeper and it takes longer. Here I recommend to take the horse home for a period and work with it.

We have approx. 1 year ago bought a wonderful Olden Borger of 8 years. It soon became apparent that it totally took the lead. We tried everything, but were unable to get the horse to cooperate.

We considered giving up the horse, which was hard because we were still very emotionally about this horse and wanted to give it a chance, we heard about Mia through some friends who had also used her on their, pony ...

Mia came to a consultation with our horse and talked about different tools we could use on him while she showed how it worked. It was very interesting and instructive. We could really see how he reacted to it.

We have subsequently trained as best we managed according to her principles and it goes really well. We still have far to go, but I'm sure we'll get there.. We move closer to the goal every day.

Sincerely,

Ole and Sanne from Dragor

Maestro was a very aggressive pony. He would attack when you wanted to work with him from the ground by, for example lunging.
We obviously considered this as a big problem, and therefore we chose to contact Mia. Something I never will regret.

At the beginning of our stay with Mia, it was a very hard process to be involved in, mostly because he was so aggressive and did attack a lot.
But after a lot of work and a lot of ups and downs, we came to where we are today. Namely, to where he is not aggressive and no longer attack, in addition, he has become a super nice pony to be with. Yes, his whole attitude and approach to people is quite another. .

But beyond the fact that Maestro had a problem, we as owners also had a problem. The fear- that he would attack us again. Therefore we had to work with ourselves the last couple of weeks. We learned something very enlightening one day.
Maestro was out with another pony, and when I / we went out to get him, he dropped his ears completely down the neck and quickly turned his ass towards us. This scared us, of course. But when Mia went out to get him there was nothing wrong and she could catch him easily.
Thereby we found that the problem did not lay with Maestro but with us. We were nervous around him, which he clearly felt and therefore he felt stronger than me / us. Even Mia could show us the difference. If she went straight to him without hesitation or nervousness she could catch him right away. But if she behaved hesitant, nervous and scared when she walked towards him, He also turned his ass towards her and laid his ears flat. 2 seconds after she could go to him again without hesitation and be able to catch him without problems. This could she how us several times in a row. So we learned that it didn’t have anything to do with us personally, but it was simply the way we approached him, our attitude. After we learned this lesson we were a big step closer to the goal, and before long we were back at Borreby stables with him again.

It has been incredibly instructive to have Maestro in training with Mia during the two months and both my mom and I learned a lot about how horses communicate with each other, and not least about how horses react to us humans.

Derefter kunne hun 2 sek. Senere gå hen til ham igen uden at tøve og kunne fange ham uden problemer. Sådan kunne hun gøre flere gange i træk.
