COURSES IN Natural Horsemanship

In all forms of communication, misunderstandings arise from time to time. It is natural and we all know. It is because every person or every living creature has its own merit and experience, which colors the perception of the message. When communication is between animal and man, it is clear that barriers can be even more difficult and complicated than simply between people. In the traditional horse training horses are forced to learn our language and adapt their behavior according to our signals.

In Natural Horsemanship we study the horse's own mutual signals and behavioral patterns. By knowing and understanding the horse's language, we can communicate with them in a more natural way and create more stable relationships.

• Would you like to learn, understand and also use the horses' own language with your horse?

• Would you like to learn how the horse will choose you as its natural leader?

• Would you like to learn how man and horse can work together on the horse's natural terms?

When the horse chooses man as its leader, it will trust unconditional. Just like with the flock leader, in the wild. For the horse this means that it ensures its own survival and will therefore follow all the leader's signals. Cooperation with man as leader is now natural for the horse and not based on coercion. What was training before becomes play and development.

The results I have experienced with these techniques has from the very beginning overwhelmed me. Through 10 years of intensive work with horses, I've yet to encounter a problem or a development that could not be solved or accomplished with these techniques. It's never lack of will, but is always an expression of misunderstanding and lack of mutual trust.

By just thinking about riding, in the horse training you lose 80% of the exchange. And you lose a lot of knowledge to the individual horse. In my courses, I will tell you about my experiences with horses, their language, signals and how to particular learn more about ...

• Horses are by nature a gregarious species. How is the hierarchy structure and how is the social structure?

• How governs the horse in the top hierarchy, his flock and why does it work?

• How can people learn to use these techniques and thereby become the horse's natural leader?

• How should these techniques being used in our everyday dealings with horses?

• How do you train your horse in a way that does not create conflicts with the horse's psyche and nature?

• How to load a wild, not schooled and insecure horse in a trailer? Further, I will tell you about my personal experiences from my work with wild horses in America. I will also share my learning experiences from my animal healing work. It is possible for all participants to bring their own horse, so we are starting from the concrete issues and we will be doing practical work with the horse on the course.

On Saturdays we work typically with the horses from the ground. We need to ensure the leadership from the ground. On Sundays we also work with riding, and we are now both rider and leader.

At these courses I will further bring alternative riding and horse equipment. Equipment which gives man the same flexibility as standard equipment, but which is far more natural and comfortable for the horse.

Horsemanship for beginners

"It all started with an advert in Horse Network. We were several who had read different books on horsemanship, handling of horses without the use of violence and punishment.

We talked about it in the barn at Frederiksværk Riding Center and quickly agreed that it should be examined.

We contacted Mia who told me that she wanted to come out to us and that we should have minimum 5 (horses) and max. 6. This would last from
pm. 10 – 17

The day arrived and everyone was very excited At. 9.30 Mia arrived, inspected the ridding house and began to develop a mobile fence at one end
so that all of us who were involved and some other interested could sit safely on the sideline to watch.

At. 10.00 we were all gathered in the equestrian living room. Mia introduced herself and told that she would spend approx. one hour of
introduction before we would start with the horses. I thought 1 HOUR it is a long time - but no Mia told very vividly about her childhood with horses, her 3 ½ years in the U.S. on a ranch with more than 300 Icelandic horses and all the courses she had taken. Mia also explained what she would do with the horses when we started and that it would end up in that they should follow her. The explanation demystified the next part and when it even worked, it was so much more credible. And then suddenly the hour was gone.

The introduction gave a fine foundation for the practical part ...

Each horse was basically treated the same, however, were there after the first 10 minutes adjusted in the manner tailored to each horse's
personality and they were surprisingly very different. As were their reaction patterns.

Some horses would like to undergo us (rank lower in the hierarchy than humans) and others, also liked the idea didn’t quite dare to trust, that this was a good idea. Others were clearly of the belief that it self and man was equal in the hierarchy, so when it was running around after us fore a few laps then it was man's turn to run after it.

It was a fantastic experience to see our horses, how they changed their behavior and especially to learn how to understand the small signals. Such as, when the horse chews it's because it thinks about things and are considering submitting to the trainer.

Mia also performed clairvoyance on one of the horses and the result of this only confirmed the owner of her own feelings, so also this was both surprising and positive.

We've all got an insight and understanding of our own horse individually and it has improved the daily contact and work much more rewarding.

We are actually so excited that we have a new session with Mia, where we will continue where we left off."
